Complete three-volume lettered issue of Everson’s autobiographical poetic trilogy, each volume handbound in boards by Earle Gray for Black Sparrow Press. Volume I is one of only 20 lettered copies, while Volumes II and III are each one of 26 lettered copies. This is the highest tier of the Black Sparrow production, issued above the numbered deluxe state of 100 copies.

The trilogy gathers Everson’s poetry across six decades, tracing his early literary formation, his years as Brother Antoninus within the Dominican Order, and his later return to secular life, offering an extended spiritual and artistic autobiography in verse. As one of the central figures of the San Francisco Renaissance and a significant presence in mid-century American poetry, Everson’s retrospective trilogy stands as a summation of both his religious and literary identity.

Each volume is bound in paper-covered boards with photographic onlays framed by differing colored borders and contrasting cloth spines, as issued, and preserved in mylar.

All three volumes remain in Very Fine condition with no wear to note. Very Fine. Item #105
