This uncommon two-volume set was issued as part of Leon Hyneman's Masonic Library series in Philadelphia, with Volume One containing George Oliver's Antiquities of Freemasonry (1854) and Volume Two containing Laurence Dermott's celebrated Ahiman Rezon (1855). Together they cover the history, traditions, laws, rituals, and teachings of Freemasonry and remain among the more important Masonic reference works published in nineteenth-century America.
This set is bound in full leather with 7 double-lined gilt compartments to the spines, gilt titles, and the coat of arms frontispiece in Volume Two.
It is in Very Good condition with shelf wear, bumped corners, heavy foxing throughout, and a split to the front board of Volume One, though it remains firmly attached. It also has a few book plates of a previous owner who was a Freemason
