Very Good

A straightforward early look at Egyptian history written before Egyptology became a formal discipline. Rigbye covers the origins of the Egyptian people the rise of the first rulers how the language worked the shape of their religious life and the growth of their institutions and social structure. He also includes short sections on the books of Taaut and on the pyramids. Illustrated with a folding map of the Nile an Egyptian war chariot plate the Rosetta Stone and a plate showing the main pyramid forms.

Original blind decorated cloth with gilt title on the front board with a folding map frontis and three additional plates. This work is quite scarce and rarely seen on the market. There's not even records of it in institutions.

It is in Very Good condition with some staining to the cloth and light wear at the spine ends. Foxing to the plates and some text pages but complete with the ads at the rear.
