An early work on psychical research by Minot J. Savage, a noted Unitarian minister and author, examining telepathy and other paranormal phenomena at a time when psychical research was receiving serious public and scientific attention.

Inscribed on the title page by Elizabeth Rithet of Hollybank, identified as Elizabeth Jane Hannay (Munro) Rithet, wife of Robert Paterson Rithet (1844–1919), the prominent Victoria, British Columbia businessman who served as Mayor of Victoria from 1884–85 and as a Member of the Legislative Assembly for Victoria City from 1894–98. Hollybank was the Rithet family's well-known Victoria residence, giving the book an interesting association with one of the city's prominent early families.

Bound in the publisher's original green cloth with gilt titles to the front cover and spine and gilt top edge.

Binding slightly cocked with very lightly bumped corners and only light shelf wear to the cloth. Internally clean throughout, with the ownership inscription to the title page.
