Very Good to Near Fine
A fine-press edition of the classic alchemical treatise traditionally attributed to Roger Bacon, modernizing the English text first printed in 1597. Includes the Smaragdine Table of Hermes Trismegistus and discusses the principles of alchemy, metals, the Elixir, furnaces and vessels, and transmutation. Printed on Arches wove paper by William and Victoria Dailey at the Press of the Pegacycle Lady in an edition of only 250 copies, this being No. 183.
Bound in quarter light gray linen over marbled paper-covered boards with printed paper spine label. Binding Near Fine with corners only slightly bumped and a little foxing to the spine label. Some foxing to the inner gutters and endpapers, with light scattered foxing throughout; otherwise clean and well preserved.
