Very Good
A historical romance set during the Third Crusade, centered on the conflict between Richard the Lionheart and Saladin. One of Scott’s later Waverley novels, The Talisman blends medieval history with chivalric fiction and was widely read in late nineteenth- and early twentieth-century American editions such as this.
This copy bears the ownership signature of Fred Delonchant, written both on the front free endpaper and again, inverted, on the final page. “Delonchant” is the documented early spelling of the family name later changed to Delongchamps, under which he became widely known. The signature dates from his youth, prior to the name change and before his later prominence as one of Nevada’s most significant architects. Delongchamps was a Reno native, a graduate of the University of Nevada, Reno, and the state’s first appointed Nevada State Architect. His legacy remains closely associated with UNR, including a campus building bearing his name.
Bound in maroon cloth with gilt titles to the spine.
It is in Very Good condition with shelf wear, fading to the spine, ink stains to the front and rear boards, bumped corners, and minor toning to the interior pages. Otherwise, the pages remain clean and complete. Very Good. Item #22
