Very Good
From the personal library of George Cukor, director of My Fair Lady, and bearing his bookplate. Cukor was a major figure in classic Hollywood, with a long career directing both stage and screen productions. This copy also includes an additional plate from the Academy of the Visitation with an award dated 1895, present as found.
This is the fifth edition of Agnes Repplier’s essay collection, consisting of short literary and cultural essays focused on books, reading, and everyday intellectual life. The work was widely read in its time and reflects the conversational essay style of the late nineteenth century.
Bound in natural-colored paper boards with a green cloth spine and a pasted paper title label to the spine.
It is in Very Good condition. Moderate shelf wear, with damage to the top cap of the spine and slight wear to the bottom cap. Corners are bumped and rubbed, and the book is very slightly cocked. Internally, the bookplates are present and the pages remain mostly clean. Very Good. Item #60
