Very Good
Limited edition travel narrative drawn from the observations of Joseph Ballard, a young Boston merchant traveling through Great Britain in 1815, immediately following the Battle of Waterloo. The work offers an American perspective on England at a moment of political, social, and economic transition, blending firsthand travel impressions with commentary on postwar British society. One of 525 numbered copies printed at the Riverside Press, Cambridge, in March 1913, this being number 67. With the bookplate of Frank Appell to the front pastedown and an earlier, illegible ownership inscription above.
Light brown paper boards with a blue cloth spine and printed paper spine label. Housed in the original, scarce navy slipcase with printed paper spine label.
It is in Very Good condition. Light shelf wear to the covers with minor staining and lightly bumped corners. Damp staining to the front and rear endpapers; otherwise the text remains mostly clean. The slipcase shows shelf wear with slight caving near the lower spine edge, rubbing to the bottom and top front corner, and partial delamination to the spine label with small losses; it remains sound with no cracks. Very Good. Item #61
