Very Good

A solid contemporary history of the Buchanite movement, covering its rise, beliefs, leadership, and eventual decline between 1783 and 1846. Cameron approaches the subject as a local historical and religious study, documenting the social impact of the sect and the reactions it provoked. An uncommon and focused work on a short-lived but intense religious movement in Scotland, and one that tends to be of interest to collectors of religious history, millenarian movements, and fringe belief systems.

Bound in the original red cloth boards with gilt titles to the spine and front cover. Uncut pages. Complete with all illustrations, the folding map frontis. And the 2 page map.

It is in Very Good condition, with light shelf wear, some mild discoloration, and bumped corners. The pages show minor foxing in places, mostly to the first few and last few pages; otherwise the contents remain clean and well preserved. Item #96
